the adventures of carl the blob

From the outside, Carl appeared to be quite similar to the other blobs.

Really, the main difference was how he saw the world, how he felt, and what he thought.

But, since this was all internal, no one else could see it.

And they certainly didn’t understand it.

The more he opened his mouth and shared his perspective, the more intensely the others reacted…

And the more they tried to change his mind.

He tried to fit in, and to do things like everyone else.

But it never quite felt right.

For a long time, Carl thought something was wrong with him. Other blobs even told him he was weird, wrong, sick, or broken.

When he tried to get close to other blobs, they’d first be intrigued by how he saw the world…

But eventually, his thoughts would get too big, or his feelings too overwhelming. And the other blob would retreat.

And Carl would be alone.

He felt more comfortable this way.

At least this way he wouldn’t be scaring anyone, or hurting anyone, or being made out to be the weird one.

He hoped other blobs somewhere out there could relate to him.

It’s really all that kept him going.

Some days, I paint. Other days, I write. And rap. And tell stories. And do comedy. And doodle. And [attempt to] bake. And, one week out of every month, I merge with my sofa and sob about mortality and things like the existence of air and how we can't live without it and how utterly claustrophobic that is to consider. I'm relatively particular. And this is a place for me to share ALL the quirks.
